Amara's Second Chance

At nine years old, Amara fled her village alone during a night raid. When she arrived at our center, she hadn't eaten in three days and didn't speak for two weeks. Today, she leads her class and dreams of becoming a doctor.

Amara was referred to our Juba safe house by a community volunteer in October 2024. Our case workers documented her situation, provided medical care, and gently began the process of building her trust. The transformation took months — not days.

After stabilization, she was enrolled in our Accelerated Learning Center. Her teachers describe her as "the most determined student in the room." In March 2025, Amara sat and passed her national primary school assessment — placing in the top 15% of test-takers in her district.
